Marcie and Hypa
Features on “8 Bars Behind Bars”
Artist site: www.myspace.com/marcieandhypa
Both hailing from West London, they first came together back in early 2002, with the same determination and vision of reaching the top of the top in the garage/grime scene. Following the examples set by groups such as Genius Cru, So Solid and The Heartless Crew, they set about realising their ambitions. They realised they should stick together to achieve this, as their unity and complimenting styles as a double act shone through and set them apart from others. Their talents were soon spotted by the owner of double-award winning pirate radio station Freeze FM. Soon afterwards those same talents landed Marcie and Hypa a prime time show on Freeze, which soon built a steady buzz and in the process created a big cult following.
During the next year they started to feature on various underground tunes, namely Bobcat. The duo were now gaining recognition from the rest of the grime industry, with every grime producer interested in working with them. To date, the duo have worked with top producers such as Youngstar (Dizze Rascal, Stand Up Tall) Terror Danjah (Kano, Terror Sqwad), Fireworkz (Shystie, L.Man, Kele Le Roc), and Dexplicit (Lethal Bs hit smash Pow). The duo have also worked with artists such as L.Man, Narstie, J2K, Wiley, Faith SFX, Shystie and Kele Le Roc to name just a few.

Supar Novar

Artist site: www.myspace.com/suparnovar
Supar Novar was first introduced to the London underground Hip Hop scene by way of his crew Flip Tha Skript. A familiar face around Hollyway and Camden Town, Novar impressed all with his superior skills and a general all round good natured attitude to life.
It was these two assets that inspired the Mud Fam to add him to their ranks. Novar is capable of wrecking any mic at any jam. Having developed under the watchfull eye of SkinnyMan, Novar looks set to be one of the few UK rappers who has the motivation and attitude to live up to his potential. His first release on Kemet Ents. Records in 2001, 'When SuparNovar Explodes' b/w 'All I Need', produced by DJ Illout, was one of the biggest underground tunes of that year. What I really like about him is his work ethic and his readiness to jump on it whenever. He just gets the job done”.
Adequately propelled by such achievements earlier on, Tibbs then spearheaded no less than four mix CDs: North Star’s Rising, Mixtape Madness and Volumes 1 and 2 of My Manor to Your Manor. Big Cakes
Features on “8 Bars Behind Bars”
Artist site: www.myspace.com/bigcakes
Intoxicating is a good word, yet contagious is more appropriate when describing cakes. 'Keep It Moving' has been recorded mainly as a personal statement to Cakes himself, as he feels it is indeed the right time for the rest of the UK to pay homage to what he calls the realness of hip hop.
He continues to say "I feel if everything else fails. the album must be completed, i.e. keep it moving. This is because it's expected of me even though I have to make it during the hardest times, under the harshest of conditions.' The first single (current underground banger) is entitled 'Rhymes Speak' and from the first word you immediately adhere to the cakes style. Definitely packs a punch. The album has benefited from a collection of different producers working on the project. These include some of the UK's most revered up and coming producers, The Elementz, Nutty P and Iron Ryan. Their input has helped make this a truly eclectic collection of music.
Other tracks include 'Holla At The Girls' which is already proving to be a favourite amongst the lucky few who have listened to it and 'Straight Of The Endz', which were all produced by Nutty P. 'Never Had Time' comes courtesy of The Elementz based up there in Notingham and is arguably the biggest track on the EP. Cakes has also been working with a number of artists and featuring on a vast amount of projects around the UK including: MoveMakers, Pound Sterling, Stuff Mixtapes, NGU Records (Dap C & Eyez Of Man), Skibbadee, Stylo G., Skeme, Styla Productions, Grand Entertainment, Layer Cake Mixtapes, Ice Kid & Sick Man, Doc 4 and a whole lot more. The Mr Kipling 'Exceedingly Good Cakes Mixtape' dropped in the summer of 2004 and was a huge hit. "Keep It Moving" followed in the fall of 2005. In October 2005 he was part of the MTV Base Black History Month Campaign alongside other UK based black artists like Sway, Asher D., Skeme and many more.

Neeko
Features on “8 Bars Behind Bars”
Artist site: www.myspace.com/squire4hire
Neeko’s talent was brought to the fore front as he was one of the original members of the More Fire Crew, who were established by the chart success of “OI” appearing on numerous shows such as Top of the Pops, Pepsi Chart and Popworld. This was ignited by prior underground hits such as “Haterz” which led to the crew signing to “GO BEAT” records.
Appearing in the BBC1 drama ‘Babyfather’, embarking on a solo career and working alongside ‘PIFF CITY’, The comeback single ’For My Son’ saw Neeko focus his talents and saw him taking his music and his career to new heights and to a different level of maturity. DJ Semtex championed the track and described it as ‘The biggest and realest track made that never made it to the shops’ and the video reached the Channel U play list. Since the track Neeko has recorded a second video focussing on the issue of safe sex entitled ‘Burning Feeling’ and has also recorded a video with PIFF CITY ALLSTARZ entitled ‘HOT STUFF’. All three videos are currently on rotation on Channel U and the comeback is well on course to make Neeko a worldwide name.
Street Journalist
Features on “8 Bars Behind Bars”
Artist site: www.myspace.com/streetjournalist
UK Hip-Hop artist Street Journalist brings a whole new positive vibe to the scene. Taking the UK by storm the young artist also known as Ess Jay displays a much creative style, nonetheless liked to that of the Hip-Hop artist COMMON. Street Journalist (born Arinze Mokwe) hails from Hackney, London.. Sparking a rebirth of "aware" and "intelligent" hip-hop, Ess Jay's music often references his journalistic approach. Growing up in Hackney, my eyes have played as a window for my soul, so I would write short articles on things, usually stuff to do with my environment Id always read the paper and remix certain articles.
Once exposed to hip hop music, SJ wanted in. He began converting his written articles into his newly found art of documentary hip-hop. Subsequently becoming Street Journalist. His maturity as an artist is evident as Lets GO delves into an even greater variety of subject matters with a skilful infusion of artistic value as one of the UK's leading artists. On the live scene Ess Jay is the leading Vocalist in the Jazz band JH Collective. Jazz Hop Collective presents a rebirth of Jazz music with an insight into hop-hip alongside it. Ess Jays versatility shows further in YOKA; a Hip-hop Soul band taking the UK underground by storm. With a well-rounded musical involvement Ess Jay is recognised by a wide audience. Street Journalist also speaks of The Soulreal Fellowship, which is an album of conspiring artists collaborating and bringing the positive UK to light. Im bringing the true meaning of R.A.P music back.. RhythmAndPoetry

I reside in the boroughs of Southwest London where ‘slippin’ is not an option and I aint talking about falling over on ice…My main objective, within my music career is to perform on stage in front of so many people they begin to look like water. To be appreciated for my talent by being listened to, and not just heard.... and to continue making music that people can dance 2, make love 2, cry 2 and lose your mind 2 because you have no choice but…2.
From what I have seen and heard there only seems to be a couple ways of getting into this music industry e.g. Knock on the door with your CD in hand the top man or woman of a record company just so happens to walk out at the same time and decides to listens to your C.D because you have ‘the look’ and within 24 hours your whole life has changed whoop pee!!! e.g. Daddy knows someone, who knows someone, who knows someone else e.g. you just so happen to have a popular DJ as your friend and they pump your music to the masses. As u may or may not know I have none of the above so, why am I walking down a road where I can’t see the end? Well as long as you nowhere you’re going how you get there does not matter at all as long as you do. (Get there that is….) Watch this space because you’re in tune to a human doing NOT a human being. XO-MAN 07 OVER&OUT…

Having been born in London with Jamaican parents I quickly adapted a lot of Jamaican influences through my music, artists such as Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Bunny Wailer and Jacob Miller, Ninja Man, Shabba Ranks and Yellow Man and Pappa San.
I became a bashment artist, but at the time in the early 90s there was not much opportunity for British artists that were doing reggae/ bashment music, so I adapted to the changes in music and opportunities in the UK. Thanks to Flowdan (my cousin) - when I came out of jail in 2002 he was already in a group called RollDeep there opportunity right there to become more of a professional body in the music industry.
Since then I have done two films – one called “Cross Wires” starred alongside Winston from Eastenders and the other entitled “Fish Wings and Things” – this featured the majority of the cast of the Real Mckoy soon to be released this year. Also featured on the “In At the Deep End” RollDeep album. Done my first single and video with Aaron Soul which was a big song but did not have enough funding. But I am still here doing this “ting” and I am still working on my solo album “Five Star General: Life As a General” – that will be ready for the world by October 2007. Look out for the forthcoming Killa Cam DVD Vol.3 (Killa P’s Diary).
